A vehicle with fluids, belts, and systems in good repair is better equipped to handle extreme temperatures and road conditions.
Crank your A/C up so that it starts to pump out lots of cold air. If it is struggling to cool, it’s time to have it recharged or repaired. A properly functioning climate control system means you and the kids will be less cranky on long hot drives.
Along with checking the pressure in your tires, make sure that the tread is in good shape. Tires that are properly inflated help optimize your fuel economy and improve their lifespan.
Open the liftgate and look to see that the first aid kit is stocked with band-aids, an ice pack, sunblock, after-burn lotion, some antibiotic cream, and allergy medication. A roll of bandages is also recommended.
Dig a little deeper to verify that you have a complete flat tire kit, a set of flares or hazard triangles, fresh batteries in the flashlight, and an emergency battery charger. Add a gallon of water when planning trips across rural expanses.
A fresh set of wipers means you will be able to see while driving through torrential storms. When was the last time they were changed?
Finally, take the time to detail your baby from bumper to bumper. You might find a few things the kids lost last year while ensuring that your cupholders, phone chargers, and storage pockets are ready for an adventure.
