Trending Car Tech

Every year seems to bring out new technologies in the automotive world. If you’re after the latest gadgets to make your road time more exciting, then check out these trending features, which you’ll find on many of the models for sale with dealers at the Beach Boulevard of Cars.

Taking Charge

If you want to be nice to Mother Nature and avoid time-consuming visits to the gas station, you no longer have to worry about running out of juice. Modern electric vehicles have the range to get you through several days worth of commute on one charge, with more and more manufacturers offering EV options.

The 2019 Kia Niro EV gives you as much as an EPA-estimated 239 miles on one charge while delivering up to 201 horsepower. The more affordable Nissan LEAF travels up to 226 miles on a charge with a charge time of 11.5 hours.

Four for the Road

With more and more drivers wanting the certainty of four-wheel power on harsh weather conditions plus a desire to go anywhere on the trail or in the city, All-Wheel Drives are beginning to appear on the entry-level trims of many models. Perhaps the most well known is Subaru, which offers the four-wheel standard on nearly all its models, including the 2020 Subaru Forester, the 2020 Subaru Outback, and the 2020 Subaru WRX.
If you’re looking for a four-door muscle car with an All-Wheel Drive option, then the 2020 Dodge Charger is the only way to go.

Digital Dominance

Digital technology continues its growing dominance on dashboards. Touchscreen measuring eight inches are standard these days, such as on the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu, and they integrate your smartphone through Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ so that you can make phone calls. But some screens get even more significant, such as the 12-inch for the 2020 Ram 1500.
Fast Internet connections for multiple devices at the same time are also becoming common. Vehicles as varied as the 2020 Honda Accord and the 2020 Toyota Tacoma features 4G LTE Wi-Fi as an option.

Material Advantages

Carbon fiber is not only strong but lightweight, and appears on many supercars. But the materials are also starting to look on vehicles within reach of the average driver. Ford leads the way with carbon-fiber wheels as options on the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R. The 2020 Ford GT also gets a full carbon-fiber body that eliminates the need for paint but takes a unique clear coat instead.

Other Trends

Other manufacturer-specific trends are also available for current and future models. Hyundai is offering three types of power sources for its 2020 Hyundai Ionique line: electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. The Mazda MX-5 could get a hybrid to remain competitive. And Volkswagen is looking to electrify its offerings with such models as the ID.CROZZ crossover, ID.VIZZION luxury limo, and ID.BUZZ, a modern take on its Microbus.
