20th Annual Huntington Beachcruisers Meet (March 21)

If you love classic beach cruisers as much as you do your current vehicle, then head to the Huntington Beachcruisers Meet. You’ll find all kinds of coastal cars like woodies, nomads, VW transporters, stations wagons, and convertibles, all built before 1967. You’ll also see many vintage longboards displayed alongside the vehicles. The event is free for spectators, although showing off your own collectible ride costs. Proceeds go to the national Woodie Club Scholarship Fund and some local community programs.

Songkran Thai New Year (April 13)

Help celebrate Songkran (Thai New Year) with your offspring at the Pretend City Children’s Museum in Irvine. This festival is all about prepping for the next year by washing away the previous year. They’ll be bringing out everything from water pistols to hoses, so be prepared to get wet. Admission is charged.

15th Annual Spring Faire (May 17)

The Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach will celebrate something special for this year’s free Spring Faire. The opening of Orange County’s only butterfly house. You’ll be able to buy native plants that attract butterflies to your yard. You can also play nature games, catch a live Bird-of-Prey presentation, and decorate your body with face paints. For a discount on food and beverages, bring your plates, utensils, and drink containers. Your kids, ages 4 to 18, can also exhibit their art for prizes.

Scottish Fest 2020 (May 23-24)

Celebrate kilts, Highland dancing, harpers, and over 400 pipers and drummers at the family-friendly  2020 Scottish Fest in Costa Mesa. It’s the oldest and largest festival of its kind in Southern California. You can cheer the Heavy Athletics competitors in the Caber Toss, Hammer Throw, and Farmers Walk, among other events. Naturally, they’ll be plenty of Scottish and Irish foods like fish and chips, corned beef, and meat pies, and tastings of some of the top Scottish whiskeys. Admission is charged to attend.

Studio Arts Festival (June 4)

If you want to admire work that is hand-crafted by individuals, then head for the free Studio Arts Festival in Irvine where works of art in sculpture, painting, jewelry, ceramics, glass, fiber, photography, and printmaking are both displayed and sold. This juried affair also satisfies with art demonstrations, live music, and food like ice cream sundaes that are dished out on collectible hand-made ceramic bowls.
