With so many men affected by prostate cancer in the U.S., scientists and doctors are constantly working toward a cure. To aid in this endeavor, and to provide free testing that already has saved hundreds of lives, the Cruisin’ for a Cure charity event combines men’s health with great rides.
The event has been serving Orange County, CA, for 17 years and is the largest one-day charity car show in the world. Since all the work on the event is done by volunteers, the event contributes as much as it possibly can toward finding a cure for prostate cancer. In addition to a 1.4-mile cruise of the OC Fair and Event Center, plenty of space will be available to show off your ride in a traditional car show setting.
Statistics
• About 14 percent of men will receive a prostate cancer diagnosis at some point in their lives.
• Nearly 3 million men live with prostate cancer every day.
• The number of deaths due to prostate cancer is declining thanks to advancement in diagnosis and treatment.
• Thanks to the free tests provided at Cruisin’ for a Cure, hundreds of lives have been saved because blood tests revealed alarming levels of PSA.
• The median age at diagnosis is 66.
When, Where
Cruisin’ for a Cure will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, from 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Gates open for car show attendees at 4:30 a.m. Admission is $15, $13 with a AAA card, and kids under 12 get in free. The OC Fair and Event Center is located at 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, 92626.
